Does metal roofing cost more than other types of roofing?

Metal roofing is a premium product, so you can expect it to cost more than traditional roofing options such as asphalt. But you can't go by the original installation cost when comparing prices, because it lasts much longer than other options. However, compared to a slate roof, it is around the same price. Metal roofs come with a 30-50 year warranty, plus they can also add resale value to your home later on down the road when you go to sell it.

Will I be able to match the metal roof with the style of home that I have?

How long does a metal roof last compared to asphalt or wood?

A metal roof is able to last anywhere from 2 to 3 times longer than other roofing options. It can last anywhere from 40 to 60 years, sometimes even longer depending on the roof, climate, installation and other factors. Asphalt usually lasts only around 12 to 20 years depending on the climate of the area and the elements that it comes in contact with. Shingles, shake and tile can break down and rot over time, which can lead to having certain areas replaced over and over again, making the costs of having them rise. Metal roofing can maintain its look over the years and stay strong.

Is metal roofing loud when the weather is bad?

If the metal roof is installed correctly and has solid sheathing then it can actually silence any noise from hail, rain, wind and anything else compared to other roofing materials on the market.

How does metal roofing stand up when it comes to extreme weather conditions?

Is metal roofing good for the environment?

Metal roofing is a wonderful choice for the environment because it lasts a long time and it can be reused once it is removed from the roof. Most metal roofs also contain a large amount of recycled content.  Asphalt shingles are just dumped in landfills which makes more trash than ever. Not only that, but you're usually able to replace the roof you have by just installing the metal roof over the existing roofing materials that are currently there.  That means less debris needs to be removed and disposed of.
