Because most of the blog articles and social media posts we publish have to do with residential roofing and siding, many people are not aware that we also offer exterior protective solutions for commercial property owners. That includes businesses, retail establishments, and multi-unit complexes here in the Minneapolis area. A number of commercial property owners in our area have chosen our metal roofing to protect their businesses. (Check out one of our projects - the Sandcastle Restaurant.) And while there are some differences with regards to roofing, there are certain things that commercial property owners need to attend to that are the same as homeowners in our area deal with.
Here are things relative to your roofing that you need to pay attention to if you own commercial property in the Twin Cities.
- If you haven't had your commercial roof inspected for awhile, contact us (or another licensed Minnesota roofing company that handles commercial roofs) to get it done before much longer. Our winters can be harsh, and the ice and snow are especially hard on rooftops. Your roof is the most important structure protecting the building below it, so you want to ensure it's ready for whatever is coming.
- If your roofing inspector isn't the contractor who installed your roof, it would be helpful to gather information regarding the type of roof, when it was installed, and whether you've needed repairs. Also have your warranty handy. Being able to provide a history of your roof can help them assess its current condition and possible needs.
- Make note of any indications within your building that their might be leaks. Just like homeowners do, look for water stains on the ceilings.
- Provide your contractor with a maintenance history. Knowing what you've been doing to take care of it is also helpful.
